Pearlington Mobile LibraryChildren and adults of Pearlington can now check out books, DVD movies, books on CD and much more at the Pearlington Mobile Library. The Mobile Library is open Tuesday-Friday 12 noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The Pearlington Mobile Library is located on the grounds of the Charles B. Murphy Elementary School and the Pearl Mart.

Congratulations are in order for the HANCOCK COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM. They are one of fifteen national finalists for the SirsiDynix Building Better Communities Award. Their nomination state “In the post-Katrina community of Hancock County, the public library led the way in restoring Internet connections and phone service within its walls in order to offer them to the local residents desperate to communicate with friends and family, as well as with insurance companies, FEMA, the Small Business Administration, and other recovery resources”.
Awards will be presented next week, but they are already winners in our book.

Registration opens May 22 for the Hancock County Library System's 2006 Summer Reading Program. This year's theme is Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales, and is open to any child preschool through eighth grade. Activities include visits from the Audubon Institute's ZOOmobile, Isobelle the Pet Therapy Dog, and Terry Vandeventer the Snake Man. Call 467-5282 for more info.
